Due to feedback we received in the past, in order to make sure we provide the best experience possible, we have limited the number of sponsor badges this year. At this time we have eight left. We encourage those that want to be registered as sponsors to register soon as we expect these to sell out quickly.

Hotel Room Updates

Evening Everyone!


At this time we'd first like to start by thanking everyone for being so patient during this progress. We've been asking you to hold tight for a while here and it will be just a tiny bit longer. We recently found out that the hotel had a glitch in their system preventing them from sending out the confirmation emails. This has been fixed! All confirmation emails should be received by Wednesday, January 11th. This email with cover all steps needed to lock down your room with a credit card. 


We apologize for all the hiccups and inconveniences this has caused. Our Chairman has requested that any complaints on this are sent directly to him at ad_chairman@animedetour.com

Do you have a game you would like to see at Anime Detour 2016?  Let us know what you would like to see from the worlds of Electronic and Tabletop Gaming!  Fighting games, shooters, shmups, collectible card games, role playing games, deck builders, etc.  Please let us know if you are able to assist with running the game and/or provide a copy of the game.  These forms will be closing promptly on February 1st.


Would you like to throw a party? Room Party forms are open too! Room Parties are a great way to get involved or promote another event. These forms will be closing on February 3rd.


We would also like to take this time to remind you that forms are currently open for advertising(closing on January 15th) and panel submissions(closing on January 31st).

Hotel Opens!

Afternoon Everyone!


Here is what you have been waiting for! Below is a link to put in a request for a room at the DoubleTree hotel. Please click on the link, select if you would like a room with one King size bed or two Double size beds and then enter the information requested.
After you have entered the information you will receive a confirmation from us that you have submitted the requested information. If you leave out a convention registration number we may move on to the next person.

After the room block has filled we will be sending this information to the DoubleTree for processing. This will take some time to do so please be patient. Once you receive a confirmation email from the DoubleTree there will be information on that email on how to guarantee your room with a credit card. DO THIS! If you do not by the time requested on the email you will forfeit your hotel room.

If you happen to miss out on a room please add your name to the waiting list. We will offer up rooms to people on the list as they become available. 

If you would like to stay at one of our overflow hotels please find the hotels below with how to reserve a room at that hotel. We will be running shuttles (better than last year) to each of our overflow hotels. More hotels may be added to our overflow block if needed.

Reminders for Tomorrow

Afternoon Everyone!

We hope you are all having a great holiday weekend with your friends and family. Just a few quick reminders for tomorrow. Hotel reservations will be opening promptly at noon. This year we are requiring your registration confirmation number to go with your hotel registration as well so if you have not yet registered please do so today.

Please remember that if you do not get into the main hotel this is not the end of your convention attending experience. We will have overflow hotels with shuttles running 24 hours a day during the run of the convention. There will be more about this when we open registrations tomorrow.

Get ready everyone! We're less than 24 hours to hotel reservations and only 4 months(and a week) to the convention!

If you have been watching the guest page you will have already seen this, but as of today we would like to officially announce Beau Billingslea as an official Guest of Honor for the 2017 convention. Beau has a long resume including voice acting in some of our favorite animes such as Cowboy Bebop, Naruto, Bleach, and Gungrave.

Afternoon Everyone!

Today's updates bring a ton of news in many parts so please hang with us.


Hotel: Hotel reservations will be going live at noon central time on Saturday November 26th! This is a little later than we originally expected but updating systems can always take time. We would also like to take this time to remind everyone that in order to reserve a room this year you will need your convention registration confirmation number. We would also like to remind everyone that it is best to reserve a room with a credit card NOT a debit card as it is standard hotel policy to immediately place a hold on hotel costs on debit cards.


Video: Video suggestions will be closing on Saturday the 12th! Please get any requests in soon.


Artist Alley: Artist Alley submissions will be closing next week on Tuesday the 15th! Don't forget to get these in soon and include copies of your work not just links to online portfolios.


We also have an open meeting this weekend! If you have ever thought about joining staff or just want to talk to us please come join us at the Geek Partnership Society at 1 pm this Saturday. We hope to see you there!

Hotel Update!

Hey Everyone!

The Hotel Rooms will be opening up in just a few weeks for reservations, have you registered for the convention yet? This year you will need to have registered for the convention before you can reserve a room so make sure you do so and hold onto your confirmation number. If you have registered but have misplaced your confirmation number now is the time to e-mail ad_register@animedetour.com and they can look it up for you.

If you are in Artists Alley or a part of a school group never fear, rooms will be held in reserve especially for you. Make sure to sign up as early as possible still as space may be limited depending on the number of Artists/Groups registering.

Artist Alley Submissions

Good news Everyone!


Artist Alley submission forms will be opening SATURDAY October 15th!!! This week! These submissions will be up for one month and closing PROMPTLY on November 15th. We would also like to take this time to urge the importance of making sure jpegs or pdf files are attached to Artist Alley submissions as when portfolio links are the only thing attached it can greatly lengthen the process. 


Notices of acceptance will be going out early December. 


We can't wait to see what you submit!

Hotel Reservation Update!

Hey everybody!!

It's never to early to start making your Anime-Detour plans- especially as this year we are trying a new system for making hotel reservations which should be up in a couple short months. As such we want to give everyone a heads up about what's going to happen so you can be ready for when the system goes live.

First, all Room reservations will be going directly through us, you will be contacted by the DoubleTree afterward with verification information. We would like to point out that it is the policy of the DoubleTree to put a hold on Debit cards, which can be a hindrance this far before the convention, so if you have the ability to use a Credit Card it is advisable to do so.

Secondly, you will need to be registered for Anime-Detour 2017 before you can book a Hotel room so make sure to save your registration number. If you have already registered and do not have your confirmation number anymore contact the registration department at ad_register@animedetour and we can look it up for you.

We will be giving out more information and reminders as we get closer to the system actually going live, so keep your eyes on our social media pages to stay informed.

ATC Cosplay Fest! Saturday, August 13th

Celebrating one of the best parts of any convention, Anime Twin Cities brings you its annual Cosplay Fest! Read on for details!

Date: Saturday, August 13
Time: 10 AM - 9 PM
Place: Geek Partnership Society, 1121 Jackson St NE, Suite 106/107 (the red Waterbury building at the corner of Central and Broadway. Enter through door C)
Cost: $15, or $10 with your 2016 Anime Detour badge. Remember, you must bring your physical badge to get the discount!

We have a range of activities planned to interest any fan of cosplay at this all-day special event:

1) Workshops! Learn new techniques to improve your costuming and performance skills, taught by local experts. Any necessary materials will be provided. 

2) Photography! All attendees in costume will get a personal photo session with an experienced photographer. 

3) Contests! There will be two cosplay contests:

Iron Cosplay: A fun contest where teams have to construct a entire costume out of surprise materials. The winner will be decided by popular vote.

Workmanship Contest: A more formal contest for cosplayers who make their own costumes. Participants will sign up for a pre-judging session upon arriving at the event. The entries will be judged by some of our workshop teachers, who will announce the winner after a showcase at the end of the day. 

4) Community! Bring a work-in-progress and enjoy the company of other crafters and seamsters in our shared work space. Some equipment may be on hand for attendees to practice with and use, and as time allows there may be experienced costumers on hand to answer questions and offer advice.

If you get hungry, rice and drinking water are included with your registration. We will have other snacks and beverages available for sale at cheap prices, so bring extra pocket change if you'd like more than rice.

Our Rates for 2017 have not changed and are as follows:
Standard Registration: $50
Sponsorship: $150
Community Sponsorship: $250 ($100 goes to the Anime Twin Cities Community Fund)

Please register early as we will fill up fast. Last year we had 5500+ people pre-register by Feburary. Including staff, dealers, vendors and other exhibitors we had 5927 people in 2016. Register soon and lets get ready for our best Detour yet!
