PROGRAMMING DESCRIPTIONS

• Art Show
  The Art Show is where artists have a chance to display and sell their works. Both amateur and professional works are welcome to enter. Art Show will be open to the convention attendees.
  
  
• Art Auction
  The Art Auction is where popular and professional Art Show items go to be sold for a higher value. With am Emcee to host, this event is a must for art collectors.
  
  
• Artist's Alley
  The Artist Alley is the place to meet with local, amateur, and professional artists in a casual atmosphere. Here is your chance to buy a print from the artist themselves or get a commission of your favorite anime-related character!
  
  

• Convention Consuite
  Consuite is a place where you can grab a snack, get a drink, or just hang-out. You never know who you will find here, and it is a must stop in between other activities. Contents generally include free drinks (non-alcoholic), chips, veggies, dips, chocolate, sweats, and much much more...
  
  
• Hospitality
  This is a special location for volunteers, guests, and staff in their off hours. Sometimes known as the volunteer consuite, access to this room is an earned privilege. Those volunteers that put in a certain number of hours may hang out here in between duties. Just our way of saying thanks for helping make Anime Detour that fun convention for all.
  
  

• General Programming, Events, and Panels
  We will have numerous panels, workshops, events, and discussion groups. There will be lots of opportunities for you to make, do, learn, and discuss cool things. We need fans to host most of our panels and some events. So if you have an idea and willing to host with a couple friends... please fill out the event form in detail.
  
  Closer to the convention we will post our official programming guide on the web. Please be sure to verify the time of your panel. Occasionally, events slip through the cracks or improperly listed. Therefore, please double check your panel time in the program book and listing on the rooms ahead of time. If you have any questions contact the programming staff.
  
  Also, use the forum to discuss your programming interests! Never known, there may be people out there to help. :)
  
  
• Opening Ceremonies
  This is the official beginning of the convention where the staff rambles on and on about stuff and then we introduce the Guests of Honor. And other crazy otaku stuffs, perhaps even Anime muppets.
  
  
• Anime Music Video Contest [AMVs]
  Have you taken the time to put your favorite anime into a music video? Would you like to compete or just show off your efforts at Anime Detour? Send your video today! Please see
  
  Various AMVs will also be shown over the weekend in exhibition in numerous venues.
  
  
• Whiskey Tentacle Foxtrot Contest [WTFs]
  The WTF contest is a search for the most painfully bad AMV in existence. It can be cliche. It can be cracktastic. It can be sappy. It can be in super fansub quality. It can be just plain wrong. But in the end, only one will be presented the WTF award.
  
  
• Anime Improv
  Do you like comedy, Anime style? Here is the crowd participation event for you. Remember to fill out the Anime Improv form at the convention and place it into the Improv box near the volunteering and Cosplay tables. Remember to speak loudly. However, those who choose to be a cute creature that speaks only a few words shall be crushed under the Anime squeegee hammer of doom. Bad Pika-chu... bad bad! Help Ben and Josh put on a hilarious show!
  
  
• Dance
  Anime Detour plans on having a dance that gives you a chance to show off your moves. Come on over and get down. 3... 2... 1... Let's jam!
  
  
• Masquerade & Hall Costume Contest [Cosplay]
  Do you Enjoy dressing up as your favorite Anime characters and acting like them for a brief moment in the spotlight? Then wear your costume to Anime Detour! Be sure to read more to find out how to enter the Saturday night Cosplay.

  You do not need to enter the Cosplay to participate. All are welcome to wear a costume at Anime Detour. Remember to keep your costumes tasteful. We will have people of all ages in attendance. Those with costume malfunctions will be politely warned to take care of the issue immediately. ;)
  
  

• Fanfiction Contest [More Info!]
  Flex your creative muscles by submitting a story to Anime Detour's fanfiction contest! Send us your best work, based on your favorite Japanese source. Three winners will be chosen, and the top entry will be read aloud at the convention! See the contest information page for complete rules and submission instructions.
  
  
• "Iron Pen" Drabble Contest [More Info!]
  Strapped for time? Prefer short fiction? Try your hand at the "Iron Pen" drabble contest! Contestants are given one hour to write a 100-word short story based on a surprise prompt. Entries are written during the convention, with no advance preparation.
  
  
• Room Parties
  Each year various groups host room parties at Anime Detour. If you would like to host a room party then by all means do so. Those interested in hosting should read the hotel page for the most current information about this subject. The more the merrier!
  
  
• Closing Ceremonies
  This is the ending of the convention, sad but true. This event on late Sunday afternoon marks the end of our Anime convention. We will say bye to the guests and attendees and perhaps bring back those muppets.
