Anime Detour 2016 Hotel Reservations

October 22nd 2015, 12:58 CDT

Hello Everyone,

We know you are all excited to reserve your hotel room so here is information we have so far.

We are currently working on the 2016 Reservation system for DoubleTree reservations. We are looking to have this launched mid-November (current expected date is 11/14/2015). Please keep watch on the website for further information. Please do NOT contact the hotel. They will send you back to us as you have to go through our reservation system.

A big change from last year: Our reservation system will not be like previous years so please be patient with us as we work through everything. While more of a manual process this system will help us pull better information than past years as we are able to access more data and hopefully help you with any questions you may have.

Some information to keep in mind:

Any questions feel free to email us at AD_Hotel@animedetour.com.

We will post more information as it becomes available. Thank you for your patience!

Announcing: ATC Cosplay Fest!

August 17th 2015, 00:22 CDT

Celebrating one of the best parts of any convention, Anime Twin Cities brings you its first Cosplay Fest! We have a range of activities planned to interest any fan of cosplay at this all-day special event.

1) Workshops! Learn new techniques to improve your costuming and performance skills, taught by local experts. Any necessary materials will be provided.

2) Photography! All attendees in costume will get a short personal photo session with an experienced photographer.

3) Contests! There will be a formal workmanship contest, and a fun "Iron Cosplay" contest where teams construct a costume out of surprise materials.

4) Community! Bring a work-in-progress and enjoy the company of other crafters and seamsters in our shared work space.

Date: Saturday, September 26
Time: 10 AM - 9 PM
Place: Geek Partnership Society, 1121 Jackson St NE, Suite 106/107
Cost: $15, or $10 with your 2015 Anime Detour badge

This is our first event of this kind, so space is limited and we will have to cut off registration when we reach capacity.

We have room for a few more workshops in the schedule, so if you are an experienced costumer and would like to teach a workshop, send your qualifications and ideas to social@animetwincities.org for more information. We are particularly looking for workshops related to making costumes (sewing basics, prop construction, etc). Material costs will be covered by ATC.

More details will be announced closer to the event. Stay informed by watching one of the event pages:

Film: When Marnie Was There

June 3rd 2015, 22:07 CDT

Coming to the Landmark Lagoon Cinema for one week only, "When Marnie Was There" is the new (and possibly final ;_;) feature film by Studio Ghibli. There will be showings in both English and Japanese starting this Friday. See the theater's website for specific showtimes in each format:

http://www.landmarktheatres.com/minneapolis/lagoon-cinema

Summary from the Lagoon:

"Anna is a troubled, lonely 12-year-old orphan who calls her kindly adoptive mother “aunt.” Sent from her foster home in the city one summer to a sleepy town by the sea for her health (and, her mother hopes, to make new friends), Anna is drawn to a magnificent, apparently deserted mansion in the marshes. There she encounters Marnie, a mysterious but out-going blonde, and they become friends. “Let’s keep us a secret forever,” says Marnie, and Anna agrees. Soon Anna is telling Marnie things she never told anyone, while Marnie introduces her to the nighttime revels at the villa, presided over by her stylish socialite mother. Yet Marnie’s frequent unexplained absences make Anna wonder about her newfound friend. Animated in a beautiful world that seems to capture both dreams and reality, this Studio Ghibli release is the second feature by Hiromasa Yonebayashi."

Don't miss it!
