Important Hotel Information for Anime Detour 2012
Hotel Reservations will go live on November 18th for both the DoubleTree by Hilton in Bloomington and the Sofitel. Because the hotel has changed from a Sheraton to a DoubleTree we have had to rework our reservations process. There will be an official DoubleTree by Hilton web page for reservations that will be linked from the Anime Detour front page, the Hotel status page and the Anime Detour facebook page. Until the system goes live please refrain from calling the hotel as they will be unable to process your reservation request until the system goes live on the 18th of November. The system will require that you stay at least two nights (Friday and Saturday) in order to reserve a room.
Groups will be able to book multiple rooms this year, however we require that you contact AD Hotel to let us know when your group is doing so. This is important as we want to make sure that as many of our attendees as possible are able to get a hotel room and that groups that book additional rooms and then drop some do not go unfilled.
Lolita Hats Creation at the St. Paul Public Library
A note from our friends at the St. Paul Public Libraries!
Due to overwhelming demand, we were not able to accommodate every person who wanted to make a tiny lolita hat at Anime Detour this year. But thanks to Anime Twin Cities partnership with St. Paul Public Libraries, we are pleased to offer two SECOND CHANCE lolita hat workshops!
Join us 4pm November 19th at Dayton's Bluff Library or 2pm December 3rd at the Rice Street library for lolita hats.
We will have enough supplies for 25 participants per session! First come first serve!
Edit 10/31/11: Please note this event is intended for teens.

Anime Detour Hotel - New Ownership and Name Change
Anime Detour's hotel has officially become a DoubleTree by Hilton property as of July 28th. As the head of the hotel department for Anime Detour I was invited to attend the official ribbon cutting ceremony and welcome in the new DoubleTree hotel. I can tell all of you that the DoubleTree remains commited to being a partner with Anime Detour and to providing for all of our attendees the same great experience they've come to expect. We can expect to see a few changes and improvements to the hotel itself, including new carpets, room updates and other investments in the building.
So please be assured that while the name is changing, the hotel is still there for us, and with us as partners for this awesome event we call Anime Detour :)

Guest and Video Suggestion Forms Open

When we made our efforts to raise as much money as we could for disaster relief in April, we were impressed. Not just by the number – because let’s face it, the number was impressive – but by just how far people were willing to go for others in need. How much they would give. How amazing their hearts were.
And it isn’t just us who see this.
Today, Anime Twin Cities received one out of nineteen awards. It wasn’t something we sought, but there it is all the same. You see, this evening the American Red Cross – the big, national, cross-country American Red Cross – will be giving us one of their annual donor awards. Not just because of the amount we raised, but because of the amount we raised in three days, with only a relatively small pool of people to draw from, and with no advertising. And because the only reason we do it is because it’s the right thing to do.
That’s right – the story of what we did was passed up the chain, and recounted on a national scale, and has been recognized for the phenomenal achievement that it is.
We’re already planning announcements and celebrations… but I’d like to stop and take a minute to reflect - because we did not do this alone. We did this because we made an honest, heartfelt plea – an appeal to the common decency in all of us.
And you responded. Oh, how you responded!
We would like to thank everyone once again for how much you gave this year, and every year. Of how much you cared, and how youwere unafraid of showing the world your hearts on your sleeves. This has been a banner year, and hopefully will be remembered as the beginning of something far grander.
But in the meantime, we will tell you once again; we can change the world.
And what’s more – we’re going to.
Thank you all,
Kale Ganann Stephen Gifford
